Allfunds has appointed industry veteran Marc Knowles as global head of exchange-traded product (ETP) markets ahead of launching a white-label platform in 2025.
Knowles brings over 20 years of ETP experience to Allfunds, having started in the industry as an associate at iShares in 2001.
He left the firm in 2013 after 12 years, the last six of which were spent in the capital markets function, latterly as head of broker dealer trading, sales, and execution services.
After spells at IHS Markit, BMO Global Asset Management and KPMG, Knowles moved to asset management consulting firm Alpha FMC in 2019 where he headed up the ETF practice for almost five years.
He joins Allfunds after spending just under a year doing freelance ETF consulting work.
In August, Allfunds announced the launch of an ETP platform which it hopes will “revolutionise” the distribution of ETPs in Europe.
The move effectively combines three platforms in one: long-only funds, the group’s traditional speciality, alternatives, and now ETPs.
Juan Alcaraz, CEO and founder of the Spanish group, said: “I am thrilled about the upcoming ETP platform which represents a game-changing opportunity for the market and our clients.”
The platform will target new distribution channels that are using the ETPs “as the preferred wrapper of choice”.
In October, Allfunds named Patrick Mattar as its global head of ETP distribution.
