Highly regarded for its banking and finance sectors – among other well-recited cliches – Switzerland has always marched to a different beat than the rest of Europe. Built on sacred levels of privacy, the landlocked country’s secretive banking sector has moulded its local institutions into global giants, able to take advantage of the idiosyncrasies of their home market.
