Marco Montanari, global head of ETF and indexing capability at HSBC Asset Management, has said the firm is considering equity ETF share classes alongside its fixed income range.
In a recent ETF Stream webinar, titled ETF Investigations: Listed and Unlisted Share Classes: A Game Changer?, Montanari noted the firm plans to continue to launch listed and unlisted share classes of its fixed income strategies.
HSBC AM became the first ETF issuer to create listed and unlisted share classes in Ireland after it converted four global bond index funds to ETFs.
“In the fixed income space, we intend to continue leveraging this structure because it is efficient.
“We are looking at the equity space as well,” Montanari continued. “I do not exclude that we might decide to do something involving equity but no decision has been taken.
“We plan to do ETFs with ETF shares and non-ETF shares. We will be doing this to meet client demand because, as ETF Stream has covered on several occasions, many clients prefer unlisted or non-ETF shares in the UK, for example.”
Speakers in this webinar include:
Marco Montanari, global head of ETF and indexing capability, HSBC Asset Management
Stephanie Hanrahan, senior associate for asset management and investment funds, Arthur Cox
Andrew Craswell, European head of ETF services, Brown Brothers Harriman
