Benchmark
The Capital Strength approach seeks to provide exposure to well-capitalized global companies with strong market positions that have the potential to provide their stockholders with a greater degree of stability and performance over time. To be eligible for inclusion in the index, companies must belong to MSCI ACWI ESG Leaders index, and have i) at least $1 billion in cash or short term investments, ii) a long term debt to market cap ratio less than 30%, and iii) a return on equity greater than 15%. Eligible companies are then ranked by a combined short-term (3-month) and long-term (1-year) realized volatility. The 50 companies with the lowest combined volatility score are selected for inclusion in the index, and a maximum weight of 30% in any one Industry Classification Benchmark industry is allowed. The MSCI ACWI ESG Leaders Index is a capitalization weighted index that provides exposure to companies with high Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance relative to their sector peers. MSCI ACWI ESG Leaders Index consists of large and mid cap companies across Developed Markets and Emerging Markets (EM) countries.
