The Dow Jones U.S. Select Insurance Index is a market-capitalisation weighted index that represents the performance of large, mid and small-capitalisation insurance companies in the US market. The Index is constructed from the ‘Parent Index’, the Dow Jones U.S. Broad Stock Market Index (a free float-adjusted market capitalisation index which aims to measure the performance of large, mid and small-capitalisation US equity securities in the Dow Jones U.S. Total Stock Market Index). Common stocks for US companies are eligible for inclusion in the Parent Index.
