The term ‘active ETFs’ is often viewed as a contradiction by many market participants who only know ETFs as passive building blocks in their portfolios, however, many issuers are starting to build their active strategies within the ETF wrapper.

While regulatory developments have been slower in Europe compared to the US, there has still been significant demand for active ETFs over the past few years.
