CoinShares has continued its hiring spree this year with the appointment of James Butterfill as an investment strategist.
Butterfill spent three years at ETF Securities alongside CoinShares' head of ETPs Townsend Lansing, who joined the firm in January.
At ETF Securities, Butterfill was head of research and investment strategy between October 2015 and March 2018 before leaving following WisdomTree’s $611m acquisition of the business.
Prior to this, he held a number of roles including investment strategy director at Coutts for five years and head of equity strategy at HSBC Private Bank.
After ETF Securities, he became managing director of Exoshock and set up his own business, Digital Asset Associates, which provides research to the financial services sector.
Alongside Butterfill and Lansing, CoinShares also hired WisdomTree’s former head of European distribution Frank Spiteri as chief revenue officer (CRO) in April.
Spiteri commented, "James’s years of experience within the asset and wealth management industries will help drive the growth of our ETP business.
"We are excited to welcome him to CoinShares during such a pivotal time for the firm as we look to engage with the growing number of investors interested in accessing digital assets."
