HSBC Asset Management has appointed former Citibank Global Wealth ETF product head James Grogan as its UK ETF business development director.
In his new role, Grogan will be responsible for the group’s ETF sales coverage to wholesale and institutional client businesses in the UK.
He will report to Bhavick Patel, head of UK ETF business development at HSBC AM.
His appointment follows the departure of Tom Banks who left after seven months in the role to join Invesco as its head of UK ETF coverage.
Bank’s joined HSBC AM in June 2021 having spent six years at JP Morgan Asset Management.
Prior to HSBC AM, Grogan spent almost five years in Citibank’s global wealth division, most recently as head of fixed income, equity and ETF product for the UK onshore and EMEA offshore wealth business.
Throughout his time at Citi, he was responsible for the product management, development and revenue delivery of the firm’s ETF business.
Commenting on the appointment, Patel said: “We have seen strong growth in our ETF platform and have expanded our fund range with new sustainable and thematic solutions. James’s appointment will enable us to strengthen our client engagement in the UK.”
Last December, ETF Stream revealed HSBC AM restructured its passive arm to incorporate its ETF, index and systematic fund range under one umbrella.
