HSBC Global Asset Management has hired Marc Hall from Vanguard to head-up ETF sales in Switzerland.

In the newly created role, Hall will be responsible for distributing the firm’s ETFs to wholesale and institutional clients across Switzerland.

He will report to Olga De Tapia, head of ETF sales at HSBC GAM.

Hall spent three years at Vanguard where he was responsible for wholesale distribution in Switzerland.

He has also held roles at Fidelity Worldwide Investment and State Street Global Advisors.

De Tapia commented: “ETFs form a core part of our passive offering and we are expanding our existing distribution capabilities to continue to meet client demand.

“Marc’s extensive experience in the ETF sector, combined with his strong knowledge of the Swiss market, will be invaluable as we grow our ETF platform in the region.”

Hall's appointment comes two months after the firm hired Thorsten Michalik to the newly created role of global head of external wholesale in February.

HSBC GAM has made a significant push in the European ETF space this year after appointing Nicolas Moreau from DWS in September 2019.

In January, the firm announced plans to launch eight ESG ETFs in H1 and create 15 roles across areas such as product development, operations, sales specialists, capital markets, marketing and ETF strategists.
