State Street has appointed Stefan Huhn as its new managing director and head of ETFs for the SPDR business in Germany.
Kuhn joins from Lyxor and will report directly to Rory Tobin, the global head of State Street Global Advisors' SPDR ETF business. He will be based in Frankfurt.
"Since opening our office in 1970, State Street has built a significant presence in Germany, expanding our services to meet our clients' changing needs," said Tobin. "State Street today employs a substantial team in Frankfurt and Munich, and the recruitment of Stefan is further evidence of our commitment to building our ETF presence in this important market."
Among his responsibilities, Kuhn will be leading Stsate Street's continued drive into Germany, managing and developing the SPDR offering for German institutional, wealth and intermediary clients.
Prior to joining State Street, Kuhn was head of ETF sales for Lyxor in German-speaking Europe and previous to this, he was head of flow rates for BNP Paribas covering Germany and Austria.
"Stefan brings extensive knowledge of ETFs and the challenges facing German investors," Tobin added. "His expertise will be critical in bringing the best of State Street to bear for our clients and in building our footprint in this key market for SPDR."
Back in March. State Street bolstered its Asian-facing team with the appointment of Kathleen Gallagher as head of ETF model portfolios for EMEA and Asia Pacific.
Late in August, however, it lost its head of ETF capital markets for the EMEA region Paul Young who joined Vanguard.
