Major exchanges across Europe including the London Stock Exchange, Deutsche Boerse and Euronext Dublin will ring the opening and closing bells to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March.

In partnership with Women in ETFs, the exchanges are ringing the bells for the eighth year in a row to raise awareness about the positive impact of gender equality on the global economy.

Over 16 exchanges across the world will ring the opening or closing bells on 8 March including the New York Stock Exchange and Australian Securities Exchange.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day will focus on creating a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination while also cultivating inclusivity and diversity.

Deborah Fuhr, managing director of ETFGI and co-founder of Women in ETFs, said this is aligned with the organisation’s core mission to celebrate, sponsor and invest in the diverse talent across the ETF industry.

She added: “There is a natural synergy for Women in ETFs to celebrate International Women’s Day with bell ringings.

“Gender equality is central to driving the global economy and the private sector has an important role to play.

“Our mission is to create opportunities for professional development and advancement of women by expanding connections among women and men in the financial industry.”

Founded in 2014, Women in ETFs brings together over 6,500 women and men across the globe to further the careers of women in the ETF industry by leveraging their skill and ambition.
