BlackRock has expanded its active equity range with the launch of five regional ETFs.

The five ETFs are:

  • iShares World Equity Enhanced Active UCITS ETF (WOEE)

  • iShares U.S. Equity Enhanced Active UCITS ETF (USEE)

  • iShares Europe Equity Enhanced Active UCITS ETF (EUEE)

  • iShares Emerging Markets Equity Enhanced Active UCITS ETF (EMEE)

  • iShares Asia ex Japan Equity Enhanced Active UCITS ETF (AXEE)

The ETFs are listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), Euronext and Deutsche Boerse.

WOEE, EMEE and AXEE carry total expanse ratios (TERs) of 0.30% while USEE and EUEE have TERs of 0.20% and 0.25%, respectively.

Managed by BlackRock’s systematic equity investment team, the ETFs look to outperform their respective regional MSCI index by taking small positions across a wide range of securities.

Jane Sloan, EMEA head of iShares and global product solutions at BlackRock, said: “The active ETF industry is expected to reach $4trn by 2030 as investors seek efficient risk taking through ETFs in a way that is scalable and repeatable.”

Raffaele Savi, global head of BlackRock Systematic, added: “These ETFs build on over 10 years of experience in using cutting-edge technologies like AI, alternative data and machine learning to uncover the insights that drive future returns,”

The launches takes BlackRock’s active equity ETF range to seven after it unveiled the iShares World Equity High Income UCITS ETF (WINC) and the iShares US Equity High Income UCITS ETF (INCU) in March.

Assets in active UCITS ETFs have increased five-fold since the start of 2015, from $6.1bn to $32.9bn by the end of 2023, according to data from ETFbook.
