Three CIOs have forecasted which areas of the market they believe will outperform over the next 12 months including UK equities, gilts and Japan.
Speaking at ETF Stream’s ETF Buyer: Europe event, Edmund Shing, global CIO at BNP Paribas Wealth Management, said the unloved UK market is an area that is currently “underexploited” by investors.
He added there is “huge value” in UK large caps despite concerns around Brexit and the Bank of England overheating the economy.
Meanwhile, Georgios Leontaris, CIO, Switzerland and EMEA at HSBC Global Private Banking, said the UK gilt market is another area of interest given sell-off over the past 12 months.
He added another “point of surprise” to the upside could be Asia which has disappointed so far given China's underperformance.
Finally, Zeynep Ozturk-Unlu, CIO EMEA at Deutsche Bank, highlighted Japan as one area she is particularly excited about over the next six months due to recent changes in governance.
