Cryptocurrency issuer ETC Group has hired Chanchal Samadder as head of product.

In his new role, Samadder (pictured) will be responsible for developing the firm’s exchange-traded product (ETP) range.

Samadder has held a number of roles within the ETF industry, most recently as head of strategy for ETFs at abrdn.

Prior to this, he spent eight years at Lyxor, most recently as head of ETF product and strategy, which was subsequently acquired by Amundi in January 2022.

He started his ETF career at BlackRock where he was in the iShares UK institutional sales team between 2008 and 2012.

Tim Bevan, CEO of ETC Group, commented: “With many years of experience in the European ETF market and a proven track record of building innovative products, Chanchal is a great addition to ETC Group.

“He has a deep passion for digital assets and blockchain technology and we are confident that he will play a key role in managing the company’s existing suite of products as well as developing new product strategy with oversight of all aspects of the product lifecycle.”

In July, ETC Group appointed Bevan as sole CEO as part of a senior management restructure. Bevan was previously co-CEO alongside Bradley Duke who moved to chief strategy officer.
