HANetf has hired former head of ETFs at DWS, Manooj Mistry, as chief operating officer.

Joining Europe’s first white-label ETF platform in March, Mistry (pictured) will be responsible for the product development, operational and regulatory aspects of the business.

He will report directly to Nik Bienkowski, co-founder and co-CEO of HANetf.

The appointment comes just under a year after Mistry left DWS after 14 years with the German asset manager, ETF Stream revealed in July 2020.

At DWS, he was head of Xtrackers ETFs and index investing and CEO of DWS Investments UK helping launch the firm’s ETF range in 2007.

Mistry is one of the original ETF pioneers in Europe having launched the continent’s first ETFs at Merrill Lynch in April 2000.

Bienkowski commented: “Manooj joins us at a time of rapid expansion for the HANetf’s full service white-label platform and we are thrilled to have on-board his deep expertise and knowledge of building successful ETF businesses.”

Mistry added: “HANetf has ambitious plans to grow the ETF market and an extremely busy pipeline for product launches in 2021.”

The appointment comes a week after HANetf passed $2bn assets under management (AUM) across its 11 ETFs, driven by the boom in bitcoin and cannabis this year.
