Members from across the ETF industry have paid tribute to the passion, vision and humour of TrackInsight founder and CEO Jean-Rene Giraud, who died of a heart attack on 16 June.
Giraud was a veteran of the ETF industry having co-founded global ETF analysis platform TrackInsight in 2014 as well as co-founding investment solutions provider Koris International.
TrackInsight said in a statement: “All those who had the chance to work with him, to know him closely, witnessed his great generosity and the sincere care and attention he showed to people.
“He led Trackinsight with energy and passion, working in close partnership with industry leaders to help bring greater clarity, insight, and knowledge to ETF investors across the globe.
“Today, our hearts go out to his wife and daughter, and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to his entire family.”
It is clear the impact he had on the people around him and we at ETF Stream offer our deepest condolences to his family.

Jean-Rene Giraud was a leading figure in the asset management industry, and particularly the ETF world. For me he was simply a great friend. Jean-Rene was at the origin of EDHEC-Risk Institute and its success and his loss will be painfully felt.
Marlene Hassine Konqui, associate director general, BSD Investing
Jean-Rene was a man of conviction who liked to follow through on his ideas. This is rare enough in our time to be highlighted. His passion for his business as well as his will and strength of conviction, will continue to be a source of inspiration for all of us.
Adrien Samuel-Lajeunesse, investment fund and ETF specialist, BNP Paribas Wealth Management

I had the privilege of counting Jean-Rene among my colleagues at the beginning of the EDHEC-Risk Institute adventure. I remember his great intellectual agility, his energy and his abilities to establish an extraordinary relationship.
I also remember his ability to take a step forward to offer support and advice. With the recognition of his exceptional career and his impact on the industry, I am pleased to read these testimonials from people he has led, touched and will continue to inspire.
Hector McNeil, co-founder and co-CEO, HANetf
Jean-Rene was a rare person in the European ETF market. An entrepreneur who was striving to grow a highly successful business and add value to an industry that needs more solutions such as his. Very sad news but he leaves a strong legacy.
Alexander Berg, founder, Index One
Jean-Rene was a man full of optimism, energy, and humour. The interactions I had with him have been extremely memorable. He has left a strong mark on myself and everyone else around him. He will be deeply missed.
