The London Stock Exchange has appointed Charlie Walker as deputy CEO.

Based in London and reporting to LSE CEO Julia Hoggett, Walker will support the daily operation of the exchange while continuing his role of overseeing the group’s primary markets business.

Walker joined the firm in January 2018 as head of equity and fixed income primary markets.

Prior to this, he spent almost 12 years as an executive director working in JP Morgan Cazenove’s equity capital markets team.

Hoggett commented: “Charlie brings deep knowledge of capital markets having worked at the London Stock Exchange for the past six years in addition to his time working in investment banking.

“I look forward to delivering on our plans to enhance our financial ecosystem and the global competitiveness of the UK capital markets.”

Walker’s promotion becomes the second in recent months after LSE promoted Michael Stanley to head of ETFs after more than a decade at the group in July.
