UBS Asset Management (UBS AM) has hired James Collyer as head of UK ETF and index fund sales from Vanguard.
Collyer, who rejoins UBS AM on 12 August, replaces Andrew Walsh who has led UBS AM’s UK ETF push since 2012.
The firm said Walsh will continue to cover “key clients” across the UK in order to meet growing demand for ETFs.
Collyer joined Vanguard in 2018 as head of UK financial institutions and left the business as head of wholesale client group and specialist sales for the UK.
He previously worked at UBS AM for just over a decade, where he held various positions including director of European equity fund management.
Collyer’s appointment comes after the firm’s director of ETF and indexing sales Martin Pendlebery joined HSBC Asset Management in June 2023.
His hire is the first senior ETF appointment of 2024, with UBS AM suffering $715m outflows in 2023, the lowest across the eight-largest ETF issuers in Europe, according to data from ETFbook.
The firm reduced the fees of hundreds of ETFs in January including its S&P 500 ETF.
