Benchmark
The MSCI World Climate Paris Aligned Benchmark Select Index aims to reflect the performance characteristics of a subset of equity securities within the MSCI World Index (Parent Index), which are selected and weighted to reduce exposure to transition and physical climate risks, and to pursue opportunities arising from the transition to a lower carbon economy whilst seeking to align with the objectives of the Paris Agreement (adopted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change approved by the European Union on 5 October 2016). The Index aims to exceed the minimum standards for EU Paris-Aligned benchmarks set out in the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/1818 for the methodology of benchmark indices. The Index excludes companies based on their involvement in specific business activities and involvement in relevant ESG and environmental controversies. The remaining constituents are selected and weighted based on specific thresholds and other criteria as determined by the index provider with the aim of collectively meeting certain decarbonization targets whilst also seeking to collectively reduce exposure to transition and physical climate risks and take advantage of opportunities arising from the transition to a lower carbon economy.
