Rize ETF has appointed former State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) UK wealth head James Thomas as its head of sales for the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.
Thomas replaces David Barfoot who left the business last December after two years in the role.
He will report directly to the Rize ETF co-founders Rahul Bhushan, Stuart Forbes, Anthony Martin and Jason Kennard.
He spent six years at SSGA in the UK SPDR ETF team, focusing on their distribution to wealth managers, private banks and family offices.
Prior to this, he spent less than a year in the sales strategy team at JP Morgan Asset Management.
Bhushan said: “We have grown at a very healthy pace since we launched our first thematic ETFs in 2020.
“Interest in our thematic strategies has swelled in the last year, and as we move into our next stage of growth, James brings a great deal of valuable experience across the ETF landscape which will help expedite our growth in our local market.”
The ETF issuer has been hiring strongly over the past few months and has continued to target the Germany, Austria and Switzerland region (DACH) region for expansion, appointing Bloomberg duo Florian Berberich and Marvin Mane as associate directors in the region.
Last October, Rize ETF appointed Tom Barker as a product specialist from Invesco.
