Smart beta specialist Ossiam has hired Etienne Vincent as head of quantitative strategy and marketing from BNP Paribas Asset Management.

In his new role, Vincent (pictured) will be responsible for the overall direction of the firm’s quantitative investment strategy offering.

Prior to Ossiam, Vincent had spent his whole career at BNP Paribas AM, most recently as global quantitative management, a position he held for nine years.

He joined the firm as a fixed income derivatives trader in 1996 before moving into the indexing business in 2004 and becoming head of systematic management in 2010.

Bruno Poulin, CEO of Ossiam, commented: “Etienne brings a fresh perspective, a wealth of experience and deep understanding of quantitative strategies to Ossiam.

“He will be responsible for unifying our product development strategy with overall marketing communication.

“We recognise that investors’ demand for digitalisation is accelerating and COVID-19 has increased it even more.

“Client interaction must be responsive, crystal clear and with a low carbon footprint. Etienne will drive our strategy in response to this.”

Vincent added: “Our aim is to reinforce the message that quantitative strategies are well-suited to building long term solutions in uncertain contexts, including the present COVID-19 crisis and its aftershocks.

“In partnership with Natixis Investment Managers, our product development is guided by our academic research and actual client needs. Investing is not gambling. There are systematic methods for its application and thus shaping our economic future.”

The appointment comes two months after Ossiam hired Clarisse Simonek as head of responsible investment and sustainability in March.
