TabulaInvestment Management has promoted Andy Baker to head of ETF capital markets and portfolio manager.

Based in London, Baker’s (pictured) new role will see him focus more on the daily management of the firm’s fund portfolios while engaging with market makers and authorised participants.

His promotion follows two years in product and portfolio management and three years in operations roles at the firm.

Before joiningTabula, Baker spent five years at Morgan Stanley including trading and analyst roles covering credit ad equity swap products.

Commenting on the move, Michael John Lytle, CEO of Tabula, toldETF Stream: “Andy has been withTabulasince we started setting up the company five years ago. He understands the inner working of our business and has painstakingly translated that into an efficient creation and redemption process for our funds.

“He has also worked with our 30-plus market makers to make our funds user friendly and has found ways to help them hedge their market exposure between trade execution and execution of their create/redeem.

“Translating equity liquidity into equity ETF liquidity is relatively well understood and efficient. Almost all ETF market makers are active in equity ETFs. Doing the same for fixed income ETFs is more complicated and requires a bottom-up approach.”

The news follows a spree of hires by the firm in 2022, including new three sales appointments covering Germany and Austria, the UK and Italy.
