ETF provider Vanguard has announced the launch of a London-based ETF research team, led by latest hire, Marco Corsi. Former head of ETF research at BlackRock, Corsi was headhunted for his years of banking and research experience.
Prior to BlackRock, Corsi worked for Decura, Barclays and Merrill Lynch, in a variety of researching positions. In his new role, Corsi will be leading a five-strong team to build the European ETF market by educating and informing institutional investors, retail intermediaries, and self-directed investors about the traded product.
The leading ETF provider, second only to BlackRock, plans to enable retail investors to learn more about ETFs which would result in more individuals likely to invest in ETFs.
Currently being over-shadowed by the US market, Vanguard hopes the European ETF market will start to compete, following its plans of becoming an information hub for retail investors. Individual investors account for half of the $3.7tn assets held in the US ETF market, according to the Financial Times, for which the same ratio is significantly less in Europe.
